The Silver & Special Process
If you have placed an order online or via email for an item of fingerprint jewellery, an easy to use impression kit and instructions will be sent out to you via Royal Mail first class post. The kit contains a non-toxic moulding compound and the process should only take a few minutes of your time. There will be enough compound enclosed to take two impressions for each fingerprint.
For handprints, footprints or paw prints we will send you an inkless wipe kit. This kit is also easy to use and will be sent via Royal Mail first class post. These kits are regularly used in maternity units to take the hand and footprints of newborn babies. Many of my customers have found this process a little easier if their baby is asleep.
Both of the kits will contain a form for you to complete with details of the print, please ensure these are completed and posted back with the prints. If you need a replacement for either kit there will be a further charge of £8.00.
If you have made an appointment to visit me in person I will take your prints for you at that time and confirm your order details with you then.
Your keepsake jewellery is then created using Art Clay, a precious metal clay which is a unique material made by combining Sterling Silver particles with a water based binding agent. It has a silver purity of 95% and once fired can be hallmarked as Sterling Silver (925). As Art Clay uses recycled silver the product is eco friendly too.
All of our pieces are handmade from start to finish and we strive to produce items that retain that very quality. They will not look as though they have been stamped out of a machine. Surface and size variations are to be expected and engraving is done by hand which adds to the natural beauty and individuality of these unique keepsake items. A careful antiquing and polishing process will ensure your piece has a bright and shiny finish.
Your order will usually take up to 3 weeks to produce and will be presented in our very own Silver & Special packaging. We will deliver either in person or via Royal Mail Special Delivery to ensure your item reaches you in perfect condition. If you need something made at short notice there will be a rush fee of £10 minimum or 10% of the total order value.
